Tencent Cloud Token Plan: Which Package Offers the Best Value?

Tencent Cloud's Token Plan targets AI agents and coding tools. Here is a cost-per-token breakdown and the best-value choice for different users.

Tencent Cloud has introduced a refreshed Large Model Token Plan for AI agents, coding assistants, and developer workflows. The offer is aimed at users who want predictable monthly token budgets for tools such as OpenClaw, Claude Code-style workflows, Cursor, Cline, OpenCode, CodeBuddy, and other AI coding environments.

The key question is simple: which package is the best value? After comparing the monthly token allowance and price, the answer depends on whether you care about the absolute lowest token price or the most practical balance between cost and usage.

Two plan families: General Token Plan vs Hy Token Plan

Tencent Cloud currently presents two major subscription families:

  • General Token Plan: supports multiple domestic model options such as GLM, Kimi, MiniMax, Tencent HY 2.0 models, and an Auto routing option. It is designed for users who want model flexibility across different tasks.
  • Hy Token Plan: focuses on Tencent's newer Hunyuan Hy3 preview model. Tencent describes it as an agent-workload-oriented plan for coding agents, document automation, multi-step tool calls, long-context work, and complex reasoning.

Both plan families share the same API Key and compatible API endpoints, while token deduction depends on the model ID being called. Tencent's documentation also says the token package deduction includes cache-hit input, cache-miss input, and output tokens, so users should monitor consumption carefully.

Price comparison: cost per million tokens

Here is the simple math based on the listed monthly prices and token quotas:

PlanMonthly tokensMonthly priceRMB per 1M tokens
Hy Lite35M¥28¥0.80
Hy Standard100M¥78¥0.78
Hy Pro320M¥238¥0.744
Hy Max650M¥468¥0.72
General Lite35M¥39¥1.114
General Standard100M¥99¥0.99
General Pro320M¥299¥0.934
General Max650M¥599¥0.922

Which plan has the best value?

If you only measure value by the lowest token price, Hy Max wins. It costs about ¥0.72 per million tokens, the lowest listed unit cost among the available personal plans.

However, the cheapest unit price is not always the best practical choice. A 650M-token monthly allowance is large, and unused quota may reduce the real value for many individual developers.

For most serious individual developers, Hy Pro is the best balanced choice. It provides 320M tokens for ¥238 per month, or about ¥0.744 per million tokens. That is very close to Hy Max's unit price, but the monthly commitment is much lower. It is also positioned for high-frequency AI development, multi-repository work, code refactoring, agent orchestration, and daily productivity workflows.

For light users, Hy Standard is the safer starting point. It gives 100M tokens for ¥78 per month, around ¥0.78 per million tokens. The unit cost is only slightly higher than Hy Pro, and the package is more realistic for users who want to test AI coding agents without committing to a heavier monthly plan.

When should you choose the General Token Plan?

The General Token Plan is more expensive per token than the Hy Token Plan at every comparable tier. So why choose it?

The main reason is model flexibility. If you want to switch between Kimi, GLM, MiniMax, Tencent HY models, or Auto routing, the General plan may be worth the higher price. It is better for users who compare different models, need fallback options, or want a broader model pool for different tasks.

If your workflow is mainly coding-agent work and Hy3 preview performs well for your projects, the Hy Token Plan is the more cost-efficient option.

Recommendation by user type

  • First-time tester: Hy Lite. It is cheap, but the 35M-token quota can disappear quickly in long-context agent workflows.
  • Casual developer or office automation user: Hy Standard. It has a low monthly price and enough quota for regular experimentation.
  • Daily AI coding user: Hy Pro. This is the best overall balance between quota, monthly cost, and unit price.
  • Heavy agent user: Hy Max. Choose it only if you are confident you can use a large monthly token budget.
  • Model-comparison user: General Standard or General Pro. The higher price may be justified if model diversity matters more than pure token cost.

Practical buying advice

AI coding agents can consume tokens faster than normal chatbots because they read files, inspect logs, call tools, and generate multi-step plans. Long context and repeated tool calls can make token usage unpredictable. For that reason, the smartest path is usually to start with Hy Standard or Hy Pro, monitor token usage for one month, and then upgrade only if your actual workload justifies it.

Developers using coding agents every day should look closely at Hy Pro first. It is not the lowest unit price, but it is close to the lowest while avoiding the larger ¥468 monthly commitment of Hy Max.

Bottom line

Best absolute unit price: Hy Max.

Best overall value for most developers: Hy Pro.

Best starter plan: Hy Standard.

Best choice for model flexibility: General Token Plan, especially Standard or Pro, if you need access to multiple model families rather than only Hy3 preview.
